WHAT IS THE YOUTH4YOUTH CHALLENGE?

The Youth4Youth Challenge is Australia’s only youth walking fundraising event designed to connect young people with our great outdoors. The aim is to promote bushwalking to young people and also to provide them with a chance to assist their less fortunate peers at the same time by raising funds for a nominated charity.

HOW OLD DO I HAVE TO BE?

If you are aged between 13 and 18 you can take part in the Youth4Youth Challenge on your own or with a small team (maximum 4 people).

You can still take part if you are under 13 however you will need a parent or guardian over 18 to take part in the challenge with you.

CAN I ENTER AS AN INDIVIDUAL?

Yes, you can!

I'M A PARENT - CAN I TAKE PART?

Parents are more than welcome to join their kids for a great day out - in fact, we encourage it! Time spent in our great outdoors is quality family time, and will hopefully only strengthen the bond between parent and child.

WHO IS THIS THE NOMINATED CHARITY FOR 2016?

In 2016 we are raising money for The Kids' Cancer Project, one of Australia's largest funders of childhood cancer research.

WHO IS ORGANISING THE EVENT?

The Youth4Youth Challenge, organised by World Youth Adventures, the specialist school group and youth adventure travel division of Australia's first adventure travel company, World Expeditions, raised over $22,000 in it's first year!

WHAT IS THE FUNDRAISING TARGET?

By entering the challenge each team (whether 1, 2, 3 or 4 people) is committing to raise a minimum of $1000 which will benefit projects supported by The Kids' Cancer Project.

WHEN IS THE FUNDRAISING DUE?

To be eligible for any prizes you must have your team minimum of $1000 raised by the day of the event.

Donations can continue to be made up until 31 December 2016.

CAN WE RAISE MORE THAN $1000?

You are free to raise as much as you wish!

WHAT COSTS ARE INVOLVED?

To sign up, there is a non refundable $50 per team registration fee that is payable to assist World Youth Adventures in operating the event.

The registration fee helps to cover the event costs, such as the hiring of emergency paramedics, route marking, National Park and local council fees, radio communications between event staff, water/snack stations along the track and so many other small things to ensure a successful event.

With event costs covered, teams can encourage on line donations from friends, family and through other networks knowing that every cent goes towards supporting the work of our beneficiaries.

Each team will have a team webpage to assist with their fundraising.

WHY BUSHWALKING?

Bushwalking is a great Australian tradition but one that sadly seems to be fading in popularity with young people.

If you've never walked in our Sydney’s marvellously diverse bushlands this is the perfect opportunity to experience one of the finer walks  featuring secluded inlets, lookouts and boardwalks through marsh areas.

For those who already appreciate the activity you’ll understand that bushwalking provides more than just the chance to reconnect with nature and experience the wonders of our unique bushland. It also instils confidence, promotes conversation and camaraderie with your fellow walkers and encourages problem solving skills.

Get inspired – get active. Help support your peers who are not in a position to enjoy the simple pleasures of a walk with friends through Sydney’s bushland.

Focused activity in the outdoors helps train the mind, an important attribute when it comes to education - and also offers a good deal of fun!
